Welcome booklet of the OSU Institut Pythéas IT Service (SIP)

This article explains how to use some of the services offered by the SIP (Service Informatique de Pythéas) when you arrive at OSU. (NOTA BENE: Always follow the IT chart of CNRS/AMU/IRD/INRAE which is in the internal by-laws of your laboratory)

Computer account

The computer account consists of an identifier (the login) and a password. It allows you to access all our services (https://portail.osupytheas.fr).

Your identifiers are strictly personal, it is therefore forbidden to communicate them.

OSU Pythéas and Aix-Marseille University (AMU) identifiers

Your computer account comes from the OSU Pythéas directory. You will also have to activate your computer account provided by Aix-Marseille University (AMU), initially requested by your HR managers by going to https://sesame.univ-amu.fr.

Please note that your AMU login and password are different from those of OSU Pytheas.

Closing your computer account at the end of the contract

If you leave OSU Pythéas (end of contract, retirement, secondment, etc) your computer account will be deleted at the end of your contract. Several notices of account closure will be sent to you by email. One month before the end of your contract, then two weeks before and finally one week before. If you wish to extend your account, follow the instructions in the email.

How to connect to the Laboratory network

Ethernet

Your office PC or laptop must be registered and configured by SIP to obtain an internal IP address on the network to access the server area. Only SIP configured computers are allowed. If you have a computer that is not configured by the service you can connect to the network to use the basic services (go to the internet, print and read emails). If you want to access the server area from your guest computer you need to install the VPN service.

OSU/AMU/EDUROAM WIFI network

In OSU Pythéas buildings, your wifi card can access 2 wifi networks (SSID)

  • OSU_PYTHEAS Wifi network of OSU Pytheas
    • Connection reserved for computers registered on the network.
    • Network security key: PytheasAMU (this is the requested “password”)
  • Aix-Marseille University or EDUROAM of the University
    • Login with your university login
  • the EDUROAM Wifi Network
    • Login with your university login

The EDUROAM network exists in most universities and research centers in France and abroad. If you have a WIFI terminal nearby that displays the EDUROAM SSID, you can connect with your identifiers from your university:

Request for computer assistance

Personal storage space

The SIP provides a disk space (home directory) accessible on the network, your personal quota on this space is 300 GB. This is different from your cloud space.

This personal disk space is accessible inside the laboratory from any computer declared on the network.

It is also accessible from outside with VPN or SSH.

  • This space must contain strictly professional data. We ask you to make sure that you do not upload any private files (personal photos, music files, mp3 or .avi or .mpeg movies)

Shared storage spaces

In the same way as you have a home directory, we can create project spaces that do not have a quota, to be discussed with us.
