Mail – mailing lists

Our Pythéas mail list server allows you to create lists that are useful for meeting and communicating in work groups.

You can create mailing lists. The principle is that the author of an e-mail sends a message to a single generic address grouping a certain number of subscribers, that of the mailing list, and that the server distributes it to all subscribers.

A mailing list is managed by one or more owners who set the rules of use (subscription, sending and receiving e-mails) of the list in question:

  • Subscription to the list can be free or subject to approval.
  • Sending messages can be open to all or restricted to subscribers.
  • The list can be moderated, with certain messages being relayed only after validation by a moderator who judges whether the mail can be transmitted to the entire list.

We have created list servers for the different components of Pytheas

Automatic or voluntary subscription?

There are 2 types of lists:

  • those where the subscription is automatic
  • the one where the subscription is subject to a voluntary act by clicking on the “Subscription” button of the list

Automatically composed lists

Most of the “administrative” lists concerning the status of people and their membership of a site or a UMR are automatically compiled without you having to request a subscription. In fact, we have the location information of the agents on the site, as well as their professional status and their Laboratory, which allows us to automatically compile the lists, for example:

  • imbe-enseignantschercheurs@osupytheas.fr
  • mio-toulon@mio.osupytheas.fr

This means that you are automatically subscribed to these lists, as soon as you have a computer account created in the Pythéas staff directory.

Voluntary subscription lists

On the other hand, voluntary subscription lists are those that we cannot set up automatically and that require a voluntary and explicit subscription from a person… for example for a particular project, or a site

then go to the list server, look at the available lists and request a subscription by clicking on the “Subscribe” button

By clicking on the “Subscribe” button of a list… Your subscription request will then be validated by the list owner. You will receive all the information by email.
